Concerned Regarding Warp Land Speculation

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by LawrenceChiu, Oct 30, 2019.

  1. Since the reset, the newly re-opened warps have seen a return surge of players, both new and old. As they've returned, the area around the admin claims have been claimed. However, as the last few days have gone by, it's being discovered that much of the land beside admin-claims are being occupied by speculators that have no plans to build - only resell. By occupying a scarce warp-side claim, they can re-sell it for a significant amount of diamonds for very little work.

Even through the server has just freshly reset, and very few players have diamonds and materials, we are hearing prices of 32, 64DB and up for warp claims already.

Some of my friends on the server and I feel like, under these circumstances, the server can really use a strategy against such behavior. Some way to make sure that the land is being given to those that truly want to develop the plot, not just as a way to extract wealth from other players.

    Sincerely,

  2. People who have warp claims have 45 days to build. If they do not give a purpose to the claim within that time period then they lose the claim. Plus, people will probably start getting rid of warp claims they don't need once they get claims at their preferred warp. Have patience, especially considering only a handful of the warps are out.

If players do not use what they have then staff can eventually use the 45-day warp claim rule on them. Coming from my personal opinion, moderators can't control every aspect of a player's time on the server. If staff were to implement such a rule where you cant buy just to resell there's a high possibility the rule will become highly subjective and unfair.

For example, if a player claimed at a warp but no longer can use the claim or the player got another land claim somewhere else, the rule would make it so they can't sell their claim, even though they had the intention of using it as there would be no way of proving they had the intention of using it.

Plus, staff regulating what all players can/can't do with their claims (other than just plain old not using them) seems almost controlling and likely to cause confusion overall. As I'm sure other players can agree the server has a decent amount of rules to follow and claim expiration itself is already confusing enough to players as is. Personally I feel we don't need to further complicate an already complicated system of claim expiration.

  7. Highly agree with Skyflower's comment. The 45 day rule seems long for someone waiting, but I feel like it's actually really fair as even on the old server there were people who went inactive or forgot about their warp claims after several weeks. For those of us who aren't as active but have plans for our claim, it's reassuring to know that people can't just snipe away a claim from under our noses just because we weren't online for a few days. It would definitely feel wrong if players were going around bugging warp claim owners about activity on a daily basis - not all of us can be online every day but we still want to respect the rules and build on our claims.
