Fresh world Spawn

What kind of spawn do you prefer?

    Can see where you're coming from and i agree, it should be A cause not THE. The arguments are formed from not just this post, but from in game chats and on discord over the year that the spawn has been active. The thing i just don't rly like is people saying "spawn was a cause" without laying bare what the other causes according to them were, as those things are valuable pieces of information that can potentially make the server better or at least give insights how much spawn was a factor. Of course we're talking about spawn here so having those other points addressed might make it become a bit off-topic, but it's still valuable for the bigger picture. Now though it seems as the main reason, the one that weighs the most. And to that i aimed my arguments at. Was that a bit rude/harsh to do? Perhaps. But i do stand by what i said in a general manner, maybe not so specifically aimed towards anyone in this thread.

    When you spawn in you would be facing away from the farm, part of the idea of having it nearby is b/c 1.12 public farm was kinda out of the way and it was complicated for new players to find it.
     
  4. Suggestions for spawn:

    1) Keep the RTP chamber as close as possible to the spawn LZ. This will save a lot of time for us explorer types.
    2) Use some of those instant teleportals from the last spawn to move people quickly to the edge of the spawn claim - one for each compass direction.
    3) Official public access DP platform at spawn. Players can just run up there, announce a DP, and start tossing stuff down.
    4) Spawn facilities - billy shops, warp chamber, farm, etc, should all radiate out from the spawn LZ, so that the landing zone puts you in the center of it all. This will shorten the distance to whatever you're trying to get to.
    5) Some sort of public BB where people can mount signs hawking their towns/shops/museums/whatever.
    6) Build some trails leading out of spawn up to the edge of the admin claim, which players can then take over and extend. (Good idea for warp LZs in general.)

    i think a plaza surrounded by buildings might be nicer for people who want to do weird things at spawn (boats, horses, pig swings etc) or organize their own drop parties. The open feel will also be beneficial for people who want to show some enchanted stuff (like a sc) to another player without losing sight of them. i think the events were a good idea, just not trying to cram them all into spawn. I prefered it when spawn was a plain simple area where you could get up to socialization without having to really look for specific people. I for one remember hanging around at old spawn more just to see who id run into

  6. A couple notes/suggestions I have based on playing with the spawn/seeing others use it:
    Disclaimer: Some may not be fully your responsibility, but still good ideas. (IMO)

    1. Paths change: As seen in real life, many people just take the shortest route instead of following paths. The same thing happens here, so I'd suggest adjusting the paths/creating a couple of new ones as shown in this quick sketch:

    2. More sethome spots: It's great that there's a sethome spot at the warp room, but implementing them in the following could help:
    a) Shops Area
    b) Traderooms
    c) Event Center
    d) Public Farm
    Plus, this can solve the problem of players with speed items complaining about having to go slowly around spawn. Typically players with speed items have many sethomes, so this would solve that issue as well.

    3. Claim block shop: While this may not be related to the exact design of spawn itself, previously the claimblock shop had gold blocks included as an option for attaining claimblocks. This was removed and now there is solely the ridiculously inefficient xp level claims. Perhaps add gold, maybe even emeralds and possibly a useless block such as lapis?

    4. Public farm: Add chorus flower farms. Key distinction is this is NOT chorus fruit. You can make a simple chorus fruit farm by placing a chorus flower with a block of air above, then a block up 1 and out 1 in every direction.

    5. Warp room: Add the coordinates for every warp above the warp names, similar to last map.

    These were some minor suggestions I have after observing players and using spawn myself for a little bit. Feel free to not implement them, but I hope this gives you some ideas @nekkid and helps you improve the user's experience at spawn. :)
